Principal’s Message

Panther Families,

Welcome back to a new school year at Pershing School! We are proud to be Panthers, and we’re honored that you’ve chosen us to support your young scholar on their educational journey. Whether you're joining us for the first time or returning as a valued member of Panther Nation, please know that our mission remains the same: to provide a positive, meaningful learning experience while loving, caring for, and supporting your student toward success.

There’s truly no school like Pershing—and that’s thanks in large part to the incredible families and stakeholders who champion our mission, vision, and goals.

We’re thrilled to share that Pershing School has earned an “A” rating for the first time in our K–8 history! This achievement reflects the dedication of our staff, students, and families. It means we’re closing achievement gaps, increasing proficiency levels, and helping students make greater learning gains than ever before. This success is a testament to our commitment to providing an exceptional educational experience for all learners.

As we begin this new year, we remain focused on our vision: to be the top producer of successful students in the nation. Our mission continues to guide us—to create enriching and diverse pathways that lead students to success.

Pershing School offers academically rigorous electives and leadership opportunities through STEM, foreign language, and co-curricular programs. We believe our students are tomorrow’s leaders, and we’re proud of the progress they’re making in these key areas. In addition to our academic focus, we offer a variety of student organizations and support all four OCPS middle school sports: soccer, volleyball, basketball, and track.

At Pershing, your child is surrounded by caring, dedicated adults who work together to build strong relationships and foster a nurturing learning environment—from our administrators to our classified staff.

Our community partnerships are also vital to our success. We encourage all families to get involved by joining our Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO), School Advisory Committee (SAC), Pershing School Foundation, or by volunteering through ADDitions. You can also connect with us as a Partner in Education (PIE). If formal involvement isn’t possible, we welcome your support through co-curricular activities, extracurricular programs, sports, or clubs.

If you have any questions throughout the year, we’re here to help. Please reach out to your child’s teacher or any member of our student support team, including administration. You can contact us via email at Pershing_K8@ocps.net or by phone at 407-858-3160.

I look forward to welcoming back our Panther families and leading Pershing School into another successful year. Remember: at Pershing, you are loved, cared for, and supported—and there’s nothing you can do about it!

Warm regards,

Sanjay C. Brown
Principal, Pershing School
